Brewed using a blend of English malts. Magnum hops are used for the early hop addition, with Goldings for finishing and dry hopping. A very flavorful and hoppy ale.

Cask at the Great British Beer Festival 2007: Orange with a small but lasting off-white head. Pine, grapefruit, grass aroma. Sweet with a perfectly balancing bitterness. Juicy, drinkable IPA.

Bottle, 2007-06-16, 6-4-7-4-14=35
Beautiful amber color. The aroma is too light. Good body structure, good malt taste and very strong hopping, with resins and very light fruitness. Long final.
Draught at Cricket’s Grill, Waco, 2006-12-22, 6-4-7-5-15=37
Beautiful amber color, head and lace. Simple aroma. Good taste, full bodied, malty, with a reasonably strong hopping (having some resins, but also lightly earthy). Very long final. Midway between an English and an American IPA; good.

Thin white head disappears quickly. Amber body with light carbonation. Some large yeast particles in the bottle. Firm sweet malty, lightly watery, minty aroma with notes of honey. Sweet, firm malty straw taste with resiny, minty hop background. Smooth, almost oily, mouthfeel. Dry medicinal aftertaste with honey notes remains after the rest has faded. Interesting and unusual. Good. (0.35l bottle from Systembolaget, Stockholm.)

Hazy orange with a bit of amber. Head was suprisingly small. Citrus hops, caramel malts, sorta weak aroma. Medium body. Flavor is pretty hoppy, but lacking in actual flavor. Citrus, pine, caramel. Finishes with a bite, but its almost unpleasent, not like a normal hoppy finish. Bitterness lingers. Shockingly dissapointed. Their PA is a work of art, this is a work in progress.

On tap at the Mad Mex in Robinson. Floral hop aroma. Ubiquitous pale yellow american lager color and appearance. Foamy creamy head. Taste evolves form a very friendly ale then morphs over the minute into an oppressive IPA blast. No carbonation. Finish is bitter lingering medicine.

Bottle from Beers of Europe Great hoppy aroma was the first thing I noticed from this lovely looking amber beer. The aroma intrigued me I thought it was quite grapefruity and piney at first and was expecting a massive hoppy hit much like a Simcoe, but this was really well balanced great bitterness and hops but also really enjoyable and a very good stab at the style, could easily drink 2-3 of these and not get bored.

(Bottle, Oliver Twist, Stockholm) Amber colour with brief off-white head. Fruity nose with oranges, mandarin and notes of rubbery hops. Fruity taste with notes of orange, grapefruit and a nice bite of citrussy hops in the finish. Not as explosively hoppy as many American IPA’s tend to be, probably due to the choice of hops leaning more in the English direction. However, the taste kind of grows on you, the hops come through very nicely in the finish, but are more modest in the aroma. Good, solid mouthfeel. Nice beer, balanced and very tasty.

Bottle from Utobeer. I opened this with some trepidation as not many UK raters who’ve had this in the last few months haven given it that good a score. In fact they’ve said they prefer the SNPA. This is amber with lasting beige head. Very moderate hop aroma. Far more hoppy and bitter in mouth, maybe a little unbalanced. Not enough malt to underpin the harsh peppery hop, which lasts. It’s fine. Just nothing special. No great fruit from malt and hops.
