Four malts are mixed in the mash tun and deliver a graceful and sleek malty mouthfeel. A burst of delicate citrus and slight spice on the mid-palate, and Progress, which soothes the finish with a soft bitterness, while more malt comes forth to produce a delicious and lingering bittersweet character.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours golden brown with a small foamy off-white head and good lacing. There’s hops and malts in the aroma plus some traces of nuts. In the mouth there is a brief initial burst of sweetness before the bitterness of traditional hops comes through. Flavour also has autumn fruits and a little malt. Later on come traces of golden syrup, corn and peanuts. Bitterness lasts into the finish. This is decent.

12/7/2024. Cask at the 33rd Ealing Beer Festival. Pours clear dark amber brown with a frothy off-white head. Aroma is malty, toffee, fruity, lightly spicy and a bit boozy. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness. Moderate body, oily watery, soft carbonation. Nice bitterness to finish. Quite liked this.
