(Cask at Cock Tavern, Hackney, London, 17 July 2026) Brownish black colour with brief head. Malty, fruity nose with black-currant, plums and chocolate. Malty, fruity taste with notes of black-currant, plums, chocolate, coffee and a sweetish finish with hardly any bitterness. Medium body, quite sweet. A bit sweet and heavy on the fruit. Still, quite enjoyable. Nice one.

Black topped with a tan head.
Nose is dark malts, dried red berries, cocoa powder.
Taste comprises mellow roast, blackcurrant, hint of chocolate, dried fruit rinds.
Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close.
Okay if a touch sweet.

Starts well but the richness of it grows a little heavy. Hearty and sweet, jammy blackcurrant. Grape. Nips of cocoa. Low bitterness. Quite sweet, becomes almost cloying. Iām the end, the drinkability really suffers. Alright.

My first ever drink in the Manchester Head Of Steam. Black coloured stout and although the fruit is prominent, chocolate is too, which serves to enhance the sweetness of the latter. Tasty, dense, fuller-bodied and perhaps not the most appealing to those not into the craft scene given it's slightly rich, it's worthy in my opinion.

Very dark beer, solid tan head. Blackcurrant and malt in the aroma. Big sweet blackcurrant flavour up front, some malt, a little cereal which gives it some smoothness. It's nothing to write home about but it's a decent, sweet, full-bodied stout and it's a pleasant time.
