From a blend of Ballast Point Victory at Sea aged in High West’s own bourbon & rye whiskey oak casks, new layers of complexity emerge with notes of soft caramel and smoky oak over a dark chocolate and roasted almond body. High West crafts delicious and distinctive whiskeys to honor the American West, making it the perfect pairing with our signature San Diego-born porter.

Very cool to find this on draft. Kicked at the end of my taster pour as well; I guess it was my night. Pours inky black, small creamy tan head, great lacing. Aroma is huge coconut, bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, marshmallow. Flavor is medium sweet, mediun bitter, a bit boozy and harsh. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. Lingering heat and bitterness.

tap at J.K. O'Donnell's - Pours black with a very small tan head. The aroma is full of bourbon with vanilla, coffee, and roast malt. The flavor is also heavy on the bourbon. Roast malt, vanilla, chocolate, and coffee come forward nicely as it warms but don't overtake the prominent role of the bourbon, so make sure that's something you like if you're thinking about getting this beer. Fortunately I do. It's an intense, full bodied beer with a long whiskey finish. Excellent.
