Donner Party Porter is one tasty porter that will get you through the harshest winter. This complex pint’s flavor profile includes hints of oat cakes, molasses, smooth rich dark chocolate, mocha, and espresso. That, my friends, is what we call a robust, almost historical porter, and why we say “your friends never tasted so good!”

A bottle I picked up at Craft Beer Base & brought to share at the Kyoto Craft Beer Fest. It pours a dark brown with a tan head. A nice chocolaty solid porter, sweet & malty with hints of chocolate and roast bitterness.

Tap @ Hops and Pies Denver during FiftyFifty tap takeover. Pours a deep brown appearance with a cream/tan head. Aromas of roast, chocolate, mild coffee, and a bit of piney hops. Pretty easy drinking, roasty chocolate malty flavor with a touch of anise and vanilla. Not bad.

Sample at GABF 10/13/2012, thanks to Bluemeow76 for assistance with note-taking. The beer pours inky black with a medium thin tan head and patchy lacing. Aroma of malt, chocolate and coffee. Medium body with a roasted malt and coffee character along with notes of sweet chocolate and fruity hops. The finish is roasty with an espresso aftertaste. Above average overall.

on tap-pours a light brown head and black color. Aroma is rich dark malt-chocolate/molasses. Taste is rich dark malt-coffee/chocolate/molasses, than a bang of earthy hops bite. Occasional.

A dark brown porter with no head, not very carbonated. A pleasant mix of chocolate and British hopping in aroma. In mouth, an excellent mix of toasted bitter chocolate, cold coffee. Rich bodied. On tap at brewpub August 2007.
