Bourbon Barrel Aged Porter

This slightly sweet porter is brewed with select additions of crystal malts and sea salt to create flavors of peanut brittle and caramel without being cloying. The medium body and mouthfeel lay the perfect foundation to support the rich vanilla, oak, and bourbon flavors imparted by extended aging in bourbon barrels.

Bottle, 22oz, kindly shared by bergstaden. A close to black beer capped by a finger-thick, dense off-white to light beige head. Some lacing. The aroma has roasted malts, dark chocolate, some caramel, hints of coffee and a good dash of bourbon and vanilla. Roasted malts, brown sugar, dark chocolate, some caramel and salt and a touch of vanilla and bourbon. Full body and a soft carbonation. Perhaps lacking a bit on sweetness. Long finish. Quite nice, but a bit gentle I think. 190929

Dark brown with offwhite head. Sweet roasted and toasted malts. Creamy and soft bourbony finish. Bit thin compared to the violence already experienced but a very delicate and enjoyable beer. Medium body and soft carbonation.

Bottle from Costco(!) Pours hazy mahogany, small beige head, decent lacing. Aroma is bourbon forward, toffee notes, vanilla, some graininess, roasted malts. Flavor is light plus sweet, light bitter, a bit too much bourbon. Salty finish is kinda weird actually. Medium body. Feels quite a bit boozier than it is. Continuing the long tradition of low ABV beers not taking well to Bourbon barrel aging...

Smells like Wild Turkey, which is fine because I like Wild Turkey. Taste leaves the barrel behind, vanilla, malt and caramel. Over the tongue finish

Tap at Hair of the Dog, Phloen Chit. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a lasting frothy off white head. The aroma is roasty caramel malt, liqouirce hop. The flavour is moderate sweet, light liquorice bitter, with a silky smooth, rich, oily, roasty, caramel, salty, liqouirce bitter palate. Full bodied with flat carbonation.
