Hazy amber brown beer, good bubbly tan head. Fluffy palate, reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth light malts, a light creamy sweetness. Modest toffee. A nice fruity vibe goes well with the licorice of which there is plenty here. It pretty much dominates the back end and tastes like the salty variety. Some spice on the finish. Interesting. No licorice was spared in the production of this barleywine. None. It makes for an interesting take on the style and if you are a licorice lover, yer gonna be all over this. For me, less would have been a tad more. Still it’s tasty and drinkable.
