Pleasant golden beer from GK, under the Hardy & Hansons name. Good hop balance in the taste, slightly sweet finish but none the worse for it. Thin mouthfeel.

Dec 2009: Clear 500ml bottle, LBW stands for ’Leg Before Wicket’, a cricketing term used throughout the world except America. As I start this review the England cricket team are playing in South Africa and appear to be winning. Made with Challenger and First Gold hops using Pale and Crystal malts. Poured into an ’Old Speckled Hen’ vase shaped pint glass. The beer is a good amber/cricket ball red colour, the head creamy in colour and texture. The head sadly, soon turned into a thin covering and then just a collar. The aroma was weak, hops and some malts could be detected, but not a great amount. The taste is more malty than hoppy, pleasant and drinkable without setting anything on fire. Medium body depth and feel, a typical English Pale Ale to be honest.

Cask at GBBF 2010. An amber beer with a yellowish head. The aroma has notes of hops and citrus fruits. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel and chewy malt, leading to a dry finish. A bit boring.

50cl bottle bought in Hastings. Reddish chestnut with a fading white head; stale malt aroma; tired flabby malt flavour with some thin caramel; and boiled cabbage to finish. Not one of GK’s best efforts.
