Cask-conditioned, on gravity at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol March 2018. Black in colour, with a slight, beige, head. Sweet chocolate notes, some liquorice and toasty malts leading to a rich finish. My beer of the Spring 2018 JDW festival.

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Black with a patchy brown head and a light fizz. Smooth, with chocolate, wood, lots of vanilla, a touch of red wine and a light roasty note. Maybe some spice in the finish. The chocolate is a little fake at times, and somehow it's not quite as full, mellow and satisfying as I'd like this style to be. Still a decent beer though, as you'd expect from Salopian.

Cask handpull at The Shakespeare Head JDW London. Black beer lasting tan head. Sweetish in the mouth. Good full bodied beer. Plenty of flavour. Not overly sweet. Some Belgian truffle flavour. Good I thought.

Cask @ Montgomery's Tower. Pours black, small pale tan head. Roasty nose. Taste is fairly rich, a touch syrupy in texture with some liquorice, coffee roast, lightly metallic with some bitter dark chocolate moments.

Cask at the Dragon Inn, Birmingham. Poured a hazy dark brown colour with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is light roasty malt, fake sugar, light hop bitter. The flavour is moderate sweet with a smooth rich sweet malt, liqouirce bitter, light sweet chocolate and a light woody liqouirce hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with flat carbonation. Smooth and sweet and the two words to describe this beer, but hot sugar water has the same characteristics too. Not so much going on and a little disappointing from Salopioan. Cut back on the sweetness and introduce some chocolate/coffee/vanilla.
