0.355l with Ogi and Obrijani Brada. Lovely aroma, orange jelly to Cedevita, low vanilla, bourbon touches, caramel, well hidden alcohol. Lean, dry taste, Cedevita orange, caramel, very well hidden alcohol, minerally, low minty, dried fruit, low, well hidden alcohol. Drier than expected, loads of fun!

(Bottle, 0.355l - 2022 vintage, thanks VastActiv, at VastActiv, 20240112) The beer poured deep dark brown. Its head was tiny and white. Aroma had wood, vanilla, raisins, prunes and malts. Palate was full bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were toasted malts, wood, vanilla, molasses, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste had wood, vanilla, malts and bitterness. Delicious. Aftertaste lasted very long.

0.355 l bottle from 'Beer Republic', 2022 vintage. Black with a few beige bubbles on top of it. Intensely sweetish-malty, gently fruity aroma of molasses, caramel, raisins, plum, vanilla, bourbon and some cough syrup. Heavily sweet, malty, moderately bitter, gently fruity and slightly roasty taste of molasses, plum, raisins, quite some bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, caramel, some cough syrup and a touch of oak, followed by a medium long, warming, moderately bitter, slightly boozy, minimally woody finish. Full body, smooth and slightly oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Lovely winter warmer, fairly heavy and sweet, intense barrel flavours. Really pleasant brew, delicious.

This is my 7,000th beer rating, so I wanted it to be something really special. I chose this brew because it’s the number two rated Old Ale on RateBeer. This is the 2022 vintage, so here goes. 12 ounce bottle from Tavour. Opaque dark brown pour offers no head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, caramel, oak and toasted walnuts. First sip yields tangy notes of caramel, butterscotch, toasted oak, sweet bourbon and more walnuts. It’s almost Port-like in its character. Extremely smooth and approachable for such a high ABV brew. There is a touch of warming alcohol in the middle, but it is subtle. Despite being a 2022 vintage, this drinks like it has many more years of aging on it. Quite a special brew and certainly worthy of my 7,000th beer rating.
