ah.....another visit to the land of pale lagers! Well the aroma is pretty bland. Sweet corn, cooked vegetables, nothing very exciting. Nice head on the beer though, it’s lasting a good amont of time, and there is also some decent lacing on the glass. Flavour is wattery, i suppose itsa good balance between whatever hops, and malt i’m slightly tasting. Not a very good beer, but in the pale lager category, it’s decent.

Bottle. Golden color, white foam. Fresh aroma, light malt, some apple and light hops. Taste: smooth, pleasant malt, light fruit and a little spicy hop, bitter finish, drinkable.

Tap at the Great Beer Bar, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. Poured a clear straw colour with a frothy long-lasting white head. The aroma is light floral hop, yeast. The flavour is light to moderate bitter with a bubbly mineral cardboard light sweet toffee malt palate. Light bodied with soft carbonation.

Draft at The Great Beer Bar, KL. Hazy golden orange with a medium white head. Aroma of toffee, butterscotch, cardboard, malt and mineral notes. Flavour is light moderate sweet and bitter. Light medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Golden colour, minimal well lacing head. Aroma of malts, corn, some cardboard notes. Light body. Malty sweet taste. Low bitterness. The ending is not convincing. Surely not the worse Lager ever.

Originally rated March 2005. This premium lager pours a beautiful golden-amber colour, with a fat creamy head and very good retention. The lacing, as well, is thick and fat. Very nice for a lager. The scent is pretty malty with hints of corn (which is one the ingredients). The taste is smooth, with a slight bitterness and a corny finish. Carbonation is very lively. A 3mm layer coats the brew all the way down. Amazing ! Charles Wells products never seem to deceive me for low budget brews. Quite a pleasant drink, for just a plain lager. Premium... sorry.

Canette 500ml. De couleur dorée orangée et claire. Nez de houblon herbeux et aux petites notes terreuses, de grains de malt pâle avec des notes fruitées (agrumes) et de maïs sucré. Moyenne-mince en bouche avec un pétillement moyen-bas et une texture légèrement crémeuse et aqueuse. Notes fruitées (agrumes) accompagné d’un léger goût de grains de malt pâle lors de l’entrée en bouche suivi d’un moyen goût de maïs sucré avec des petites notes de biscuits (traces de rôti) parallèlement à un goût moyennement amer de houblon herbeux, légèrement floral et aux notes terreuses jusqu’en finale où l’on retrouve également de faibles notes métalliques. Post-goût moyen, moyen-léger amer de houblon herbeux aux notes florales ainsi que des notes métalliques et fruitées (zest d’agrumes).

Can: Poured a golden yellow color lager with a medium bubbly white head with minimal retention. Aroma of semi-sweet malt and light hops is a bit shy but could have been worse. Taste is sweet with some light floral hops at the end. There is some adjunct in there but not in such large quantities as to gross out the whole thing. Overall, this was not a bad beer but not something I would go for again.

Small creamy white head; clear yellow body. Very, very faint fruity aroma. Taste is fruity, acidic malts with harmonic grassy hops. Velvety mouthfeel. Dry, bitter, grassy aftertaste. Good session beer. (0.5l on tap.)

2005 can at the Mondial, 6/4/05. Clear golden-straw color, large bubbles and a moderate amount of bubbly white head, poor retention, no lacing. Aroma of soft grassy hops, no bitterness. Touches of sweet sugary malt, light hay and biscuits, cornbread. Flavor has a plasticy edge to it, kind of like pine-sol on vinyl tiles, and then some cheap sugary notes, followed by a drying effect from hops, I guess. Little bit of corniness throughout, with a slightly metallic finish and a medium-light body, though not terribly watery. Just rather stale and bland for the most part. Moderate carbonation is not overly sharp.
