Bottle, 7.1%. Vinous aroma. Mildly roasted. Clear dark brown colour. Small frothy light brown head. The flavour starts off quite vinous, turns more roasted and ends with salty liquorice and roast barley. I like the finish a lot better than the beginning. Good coffee finish. Does not taste 7.1%, but it is a very good beer, indeed.

Bottle. Pours cloudy very dark brown with small light tan head. Clear aroma of malt and roast, with notes of caramel and dried fruit and touches of yeast. Bitter, roasty flavour with sweetish notes of caramel malt, coffee, yeast and fruit. Hints of barrel. Roasty aftertaste with nutty and malty hints. Very nice.

Cask, handpump, Tilly’s, Newcastle Upon Tyne. Wednesday 1st October 2014. Pours black with a slim tan head. Rich and full flavoured, hops show, the finish is dry. This is just a little past its best and becoming a bit tired, still the abv and flavours carry it through. Roasty in mouth. Will look out for this again when in top nick. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1
