Keg at Alma. It pours near black with a small white head. The aroma is rich, oily, toasty, roasted malt, umami, marmite and cocoa. The taste is slick, dry, chewy, oily, roasted malt, toasty, slick, warming alcohol, some dark fruits, tar, peppery and chocolate cake with an oily finish. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth feel. Punchy. Not bad.

Alma. Keg. Opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is smooth and mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth but rich tasting dark malts. Tangy coffee and chocolate and a little malt creamy sweetness. Mild esters. Tangy fruits. Light finish. Pretty tasty and rich, an unexpected treat from Arbor.

On tap at Alma Islington. Dark brown colour lasting tan head. Quite a good dark chocolate flavour. Some juiciness. Pretty decent.

Cask at the Post Office Vaults, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a bubbly light tan head. The aroma is roasty caramel toffee malt coffee, chocolate. The flavour is moderate sweet with a warm rich, smooth, roasty, dry charcoal hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
