Situated in the stunning Peak District, we deeply appreciate the value of connecting with nature and are committed to helping others experience it too. That’s why we created ‘The Great Outdoors’ and for every pint poured, we’ll donate 20 pence to a rotating list of local outdoor education charities, giving young people the chance to explore the beautiful landscape we’re fortunate to be able to brew in. ‘The Great Outdoors’ is a classic Bitter with a light mahogany hue and earthy, floral aromas. Its smooth body reveals a gentle sweetness with notes of caramel, complemented by subtle hints of toast and hazelnut.

Cask at Hogshead, Wolverhampton. Pours “bitter brown” with a small foamy cream head and excellent lacing. The main gist of the aroma is mucky earth, but there’s some malts mixed in there too. In the mouth it is sweet and juicy but with a little underlying bitterness. Flavour is malts and honey with some hints of hops and traces of caramel and stale bread coming later. Finish is a little fruity. Bit of a mixed bag this one.

Handpull cask at the Hogshead, Wolverhampton. Light brown, clear with a small beige head and plenty of lacing. Woody aroma, some forest floor. It tastes a heck of a lot better than it smells with a papery dryness to the bittersweet woodiness. Long finish. Medium body belying the strength with some soft carbonation. Overall good but not Thornbridge's best effort.

[Cask at the Alehouse, Reading.] A great looking bitter - chestnut brown with a foaming head; malty aroma; malty taste with a twiggy bitterness, then some brown bread and hedgerow fruit in the dry finish. A classic English bitter.
