You like beer. You like tangy grapefruits. You're really going to like twisted grapefruit IPA. We use super-citrussy mandarina bavaria hops along with zesty classic chinook and, just to make sure, we lob in loads of real grapefruits, hand-chopped by Barbara who has the best knife skills in the brewery. What follows is bright, pithy, juicy heaven - twisted grapefruit IPA.

33cl can. A clear dark golden beeer with a mid-sized most good lasting white head. Grapefruit juice and orange fruits in the aroma, mild bitterness. Taste of bitter fruity hopps, fresh grapefruit juice, orange, tangerine.

Bottle from Morrisons, Bedford. Drunk at home. Golden and clear with a bit of carbonation. Lovely pink grapefruit smell. However the taste isn’t really hoppy. It’s more like a basic malty golden beer with grapefruit juice added. A bit of sulphur astringency on the confused and messy finish. Well, why use Citra when you can have additives? It’s ok on its own merits but I prefer more natural recipes.

Can from Tesco, Enniskillen [160417]
Amber, clear, frothy white head, some lacing
Aroma of sweet tinned grapefruit, that’s it, nice fruty nose but one dimensional
Taste of tinned grapefruit juice, dab of bitter zest hops, some bitter grapefruit, artificial note to it, but not bad
Palate - Soft carb, medium light body, quite bitter, light sweet background, bitter zest, getting an odd dull malt background
Overall - Don’t like it that the ’grapefruit flavouring’ has been added to this (maybe due to lack of hops) - could be arificial flavouring (so -2 from overall score for that). Comes across as an inferior cheap Elvis Juice knock off. As a beer, overall, it’s not too bad to drink

330ml can from Tesco - Clear gold body, heady puffed up top. Nose is red grapefruit, loud soapy citrus. Taste is soapy again, the grapefruit as expected to the fore. Pleasant enough.

Decent, but it's not as good as Grapefruit Highwire or Elvis Juice.

Can from Tesco, Inverurie. It pours clear amber with a medium white head. The aroma is quite sweet, sugary, candied grapefruit, cheap lemonade and soap. The taste is crisp, rather sweet, sugary, lemonade, soapy, grapefruit, spice, waxy, metallic twang and toasty grain. Finish is sweet and soapy. Sweet, sugary and soapy. Comes across rather artificial! Basic stuff indeed.
