Can from Tesco, Reading. I'm not a fan of white stouts, but bought this nevertheless to boost my numbers for the style - my god, the hardships we raters have go through! This one's a crystal-clear deep gold colour with a lasting white head. Rather a musty aroma, with hints of raspberry. Tastes of dried raspberries, raspberry pips and cheap white chocolate. The mustyness returns as some elderly lemons limp into view. The mouthfeel is decent - quite a full body, although the fizz does detract from it a little. Despite a light bitterness in the finish, it's definitely a bit too sweet. White chocolate muffins arrived in the aftertaste - specifically the slightly browned and toasty white chocolate chips sticking out of the top of the muffin. Overall - it's not too bad, but I still didn't really enjoy it and it didn't change my opinion that white stouts are a daft marketing gimmick that should never have made it further than the brainstorming session flipchart.

Gold with a foamy, white head. Aroma of raspberry syrup and vanilla. Taste is bitter with a sweet underside. Chemical bitter and strongly medicinal finish, but I doubt this is curing much apart from a weakness at not better reading the can labels before buying. At least it feels good on the tongue, silky smooth and chewy. Not a fan of this, or white stouts in general.

440ml can at Tønne, Leicester. Hmmm a white stout. Don't normally like these but I will give it a go. Middle of the road gold and clear with a ring of white head. Aroma of plastic and weirdness and maybe a smidge of cheap chocolate. Sweet taste, some more cheap chocolate, some spice, missing the raspberry. Medium body weight with carbonation on the heavy side. This does nothing to quell my belief that white stouts are proof that God is dead.

Can at home picked up from Tesco. A light hazed golden orange coloured pour with a rocky white head. Aroma is semi sweet, vanilla, light smoke, some jammy fruits, sweet bready grains. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, jammy raspberry, white chocolate, light grains, artificial tastign, Harsh finish. Palate is semi sweet, oily, moderate carbonation. Weird hairspray action.

Cloudy orange-gold. Interesting body, full, oat, low carbonation. Moderate chocolate aromas, medium dry. The flavour profile has vanilla and lactose moments in the foreground, followed by a subdued note of sour raspberries. Chemical finish but not repulsive.

One-third pint, draught at Vocation & Co in Sheffield. Hazy orange-gold body. filmy layer, spotty lacing. Moderate aromas of chocolate, mid-dry. The taste profile has got chocolate moments to the fore followed by a subdued note of stewed fruit/berries. Mid-sweet malt-fruity ending. Just okay. (29.04.2025).
