A classic English Ale, a blend of Pale Ale, Crystal and amber
malts gives a smooth beer with a full malty flavour, with hints
of dry biscuit. The hops are a blend of 4 English varieties and
the bitterness is balanced by malt fruity notes. A long finish is
complimented by the hop aroma which has a hint of spice.

Bottle from Aldi, Keighley. Copper-amber, clear, with a small head. Has a fuller-bodied, fine pale ale texture that tastes a lot stronger than it actually is. Taste-wise it's at the grittier end of IPA.

500ml bottle: BBE Nov 2018. Obtained from a local Aldi store during their Summer Beer Festival. Poured into an Abbot Ale badged pint glass tankard at home on 10th Aug 2017. Amber body, clean and clear, beige head of foaming bubbles. Hoppy and bitter, light citrus lead with a piney/resin centre and finish in both the nose and taste. Pretty good all round.

Bottle from Aldi. Poured a dark amber with a thin broken white head. The aroma is malt, light woody hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a smooth watery, light fruit, light metallic, resin woody hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle from Aldi. Pleasant amber in colour, with a slight, white, head. Aroma of caramel, hedgerow fruits and a hint of citrus hop. Flavour had some quite dense, biscuity malts, some more fruity sweetness, coming to a finish with a bitter kick that lingered on for a while. A good English bottled beer.

Bottle. Aldi. Clear, copper colour. Thick, foamy, lasting, cream coloured head. Nose has blackcurrant boiled sweets. Stewed hop and boiled vegetables. A curious combination. Taste is stewed hop bitter. Medium body. A bit greasy. Fairly aggressive bitterness to finish.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Appearance - golden amber with a decent fluffy head. Nose - caramel biscuits. A hint of citrus. Maybe a Club Orange Bar. Taste - spiced biscuits and light caramel and citrus. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy/crunchy texture and a dry crunchy biscuit.

Bottle from Cambridge Wine Merchants, Mill Road, Cambridge. Copper/toffee colour, like iced tea, not quite clear. A quickly dissipating white head, a fair bit of lacing. A strange aroma: the first thing I get is alcohol (from a 4.7% beer?) followed by some acidic tannic notes with tangerine and caramel. Tastes better than it smells although not by much. It has a wonderful initial bittersweet balance, but it starts to pull apart into a big mess, ending with boozy acidity in the finish. Elgoods can be a mixed bag but this isn’t one of my favourites.
