Bottle - Pours a clear rich gold colour with a small frothy off white head. Aroma is light, not what I was expecting, caramel malt, citrus and a little pine. An initial hit of hop bitterness, grapefruit, earthy spice and pine flavours followed by some malty sweetness fading in light dry finish.

Tap at the Crafty Squire, Russell St Melbourne. Poured a crystal clear light amber with a thin broken white head and some clingy lace. The aroma is malt, tropical fruit hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a light crisp pineapple citrus, light floral hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation and a lingering bitter finish.

Note to Alan - not as good as the 7. I don’t think that this version is as hoppy as previous version, it was more grapefruit, this more a peppery spice finish.

Bottle. Clear gold with a white head that lasts OK. Interesting plant nursery aroma - floral aromas, some citrus but also soil. Only a little sweet with cereal, some apricot and those weird hop aromatics. Moderate bitterness. Finish of mulch. What a strange beer.

345ml bottle into schooner glass. Golden amber colour with solid white head, medium carbonation. Earthy spicy hop nose. Full bodied, oily texture. Initial floral bitterness gives way to a spicy funky earthy finish that lingers. Malt is present throughout. Interesting and full of flavour though perhaps not as sessionable as the last couple of ’Hop Thief’s’.
