Opulence, as it's name clearly suggests, is an opulent beer. Take a whiff, and you get dark roasted coffee on the nose, some black treacle and a big hit of luxury Madagascan Vanilla. Sip the beer and find yourself sinking into its oaty smoothness. Otherwise a dry Stout, vanilla softens all the darker character and add sweetness without shattering the complexity of this beautiful beer.

Bottle at Cotteridge Convention 2017. It pours jet black with a decent tan head. The aroma is so bloody sweet, sticky, vanilal ice-cream, chocolate cake and cake frosting. The taste is similarly very sweet, oily, chewy, warming booze, roasted malt, vanilla icing, charred roast, dark chocolate and burnt toast with a warming finish. Full body and moderate carbonation. I like aspects of this beer, but feel the sweetness could have been toned down a bit. OK.

Another beer I tried at the 3rd Cotteridge Tasting on 20th May 2017. Cheers Dan (The_Osprey) for this offering. Poured almost black, the head a thin tanned affair. Malts, as youโd expect for an Imp Stout, rule the roost in both the nose and flavour with chocolate to the fore. Vanilla and liquorice notes abound within the taste of this smooth bodied brew. Nice.

Mother Kellyโs. Keg. Opaque dark brown beer, good tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry. Decent fine minerally carbonation. Smooth dark malts, dry, some vanilla and some dark chocolate, the modest sweetness morphs into light roast bitterness. Dark fruits underneath. Minerally crisp finish. Dark chocolate tangy linger. The light crisp palate makes it pretty drinkable for the abv but I would have preferred a more sumptuous beer,

Keg at the Cock Tavern - Hackney. Pours black-brown with a creamy, tan head. Hard roast in the nose, some ash, baking cocoa. Melodies wet flavour with powerful alcohol, bitter torched wood, earth, some dried vanilla pods, baking cocoa. Full bodied with fine carboantion. Warming finish with more ashy character, bitter dark chocolate, booze. Not bad.
