Cask at the Wellington - Birmingham. Pours clear brown with a bubbly tan head. Moderate roast in the nose, some milk chocolate. Light tot medium sweet flavour with low bitterness, more chocolate, soft roast. Light bodied with fine carbonation; good condition. Nicely balanced finish, nips of berries, raisins, chocolate. Sound.

20th May 2017: cask in The Wellington, Birmingham (before the Cotteridge Tasting). Black too very dark reddish brown, off-white crown. Typical Stout attributes, chocolate, coffee and liquorice coming through from the malts and a light smokey feel to offset the mild malty sweetness. Liked it.

Cask at the Welly. It pours black with a small tan head. The aroma is sweet, plain chocolate (cheap), treacle, toasty, smoked action, coffee and chewy action. The taste is dry, bitter, roasted malt, sweet chocolate, chewy, toothy, toasty and coffee with drying finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Perhaps a touch sweet and toothy, but not bad anyhow.
