Cask at the Wellington - Birmingham. Pours murky amber with a frothy white head. Flinty snout, some pine needles and orange peel. Light sweet flavour with ample pine and rind, minerals. Light bodied with fine carbonation; OK condition. Finishes dry and bitter, with further piney notes, citrus rind. So so.

20th May 2017: cask in The Wellington, Birmingham (before the Cotteridge Tasting). I think there were three halves of this doing the rounds, I certainly bought a half and seem to remember two more half finished glasses on the table. Didn’t look very good in my opinion, a dirty, murky dishwater red/brown/amber, the head however was full and lasting. Red berries ruled the aroma stakes for me, taste also had red berries to the fore, sweet orange flavour too. Strange one really, supposed to be misty by all accounts but it didn’t sit well with me.

Cask at the Welly. It pours murky amber pond water with a decent off-white head. The aroma is sweet, juicy, jammy, red berry, Victoria sponge, brown bread and a touch of spice. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, resin, jammy red berry, spicy, chewy malt, wood and leather with a bitter - sweet finish. Medium body fine carbonation. Not a looker, but decent enough anyhow.
