A warped version of Albino Squid Assassin, this super exclusive small batch beer sees us amp up the rye character to the max.

This red rye IPA has spent six months sequestered in rye whiskey barrels, drawing incredible toasty, spicy and oaky flavours from the wood.

The hops have softened and morphed from pithy citrus to ripe autumn fruit, while the malt base has picked up cinder toffee and cinnamon. An incredibly deep and complex IPA.

330ml bottle from BrewDog Online. Clear deep amber red colour with a small beige head, great retention. Aroma is amazing - whiskey, ripe citrus and berry fruit, malt. Taste is fruity, spicy, malt, caramel, whiskey, not too much of an alcohol kick, and not much bitterness. Smooth, warming, relaxing.

Clear deep orange - red - amber beer, good cream colour head. Palate is light and mildly dry. Decent fine carbonation. Smooth malts, very nice oaky sweetness with a contrasting touch of mildly bitter wood. Winey fruits and light licorice. Port wine fruits in the semi dry finish. Modest bitter linger. Would swear this was wine or port barrel aged. Anyway it sumptuous and lip smackingly good. Lovely stuff from Brewdog, this sort of thing has always been one of their core strengths and when I see the bars peppered with lagers, kolschs, and all manner of trivia,. I do wish they would do more of this type of beer.

Hazy red-brown beer with an odd-white head. Malty, sour fruit aroma. Taste is light and fruity up front. Settles in with some sour, yeasty fruit, some mild hoppiness and you can taste the strength of it. Quite alcohol-y in the aftertaste, a touch gassy. The malt lingers too. I think there’s some banana in there as well.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - deep amber to brown with red chinks. Nose - cherries, wood. Taste - more red fruit and caramel too this time. Slight brandy ball thing going on. Palate - medium bodied with a tangy sweet middle section and a long tangy but sweet finish. Overall - good. Not sure I’d have guessed it would’ve turned out like this.

330ml bottle from Brewdog online store. Brown colour with a reddish tinge, beige foam head leaving alittle lacing and aroma of zesty citrus fruits, candy, coconut, woody oak. Taste is sweetish malt, caramel, woody, oak, vanilla, with fruity & nutty bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry tangy warming finish. Nicely drinkable.
