31 December 2024. 33cl bottle from Stacks. Vintage 2020. Bottled: 4/11/2022. Cheers to New Year's Eve with Anke, Silke & Elke!

Hazy black, stable, frothy, beige head. Aroma of old fondant, ink, soy sauce, teriyaki, raisin, leather, dried fig, blackberry, dried apple peel, charred wood, tobacco, brown rum. Taste has sweetish fig, raisin & ripe green apple with a hint of sourish blackberry in a thick malt body of fondant, toasted nuts and brown bread; surrounded by umami notes of soy sauce, mushroom even. Whiff of herbal tobacco in the middle before the (black-) peppery hoppy finish; dried fruits, coffee roast and wood (vanilla) all come together, topped off with a dash of brown rum alcohol. Medium to full body, oily texture, average carbonation. Complex, bitter and elegant as a 'low-intensity' BA: the alcohol is certainly there, but the rum sits firmly within the big malt body. Lovely!

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with minimally late awakening, small, creamy, diminishing, minimally lacing, dark beige head. Roasty, chocolately, dark malty and slightly sweet-ish, caramel malty aroma, yeasty fruity overtones, notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, some caramel, a touch of blueberry, plum butter, weak BA overtones with a touch of molasses. Taste is sweet-ish, caramel malty and mildly roasty, chocolately, dark malty, slightly yeasty fruity, minimally woody and alcoholic, hints of dark caramel, a touch of molasses, rum; minimally warming, alcoholic finish, well hidden alcohol overall.
Initially well adjusted BA support becomes a tad pert after a while, not overly complex overall - minimally underwhelming.

Bottle. Black with tan head. Lots of rum, chocolate, leather, dry coffee, vanilla, very earthy roasted malts, a lot of licorice, old oak. Very strong on tannins, 'old' and classic licorice stout. Quite sweet and bitter. Almost full bodied. Quite old school, but not bad at all.

Draft @ De Struise, Oostvleteren. Hazed dark with a beige head atop. Thick dark malt aroma. Soft palate, decent whack of malt, roast, a little more rum BA influence would've been nice but still a solid meaty stout. Marked down a little due to the low rum notes.

Bottled 330ml (DBH)
Opaque colour, small beige head. Roasted, a bit toffeish aroma. Medium-bodied. Roastyness, earthy notes, coffee, rhum in the flavour. At the end spiceyness, alcohol and even watery end slide. Not the best of Damnations. Boozy, spicey and thin.
