31 December 2024. 33cl bottle from Stacks. Vintage 2020. Bottled: 4/11/2022. Cheers to New Year's Eve with Anke, Silke & Elke!
Hazy black, stable, frothy, beige head. Aroma of old fondant, ink, soy sauce, teriyaki, raisin, leather, dried fig, blackberry, dried apple peel, charred wood, tobacco, brown rum. Taste has sweetish fig, raisin & ripe green apple with a hint of sourish blackberry in a thick malt body of fondant, toasted nuts and brown bread; surrounded by umami notes of soy sauce, mushroom even. Whiff of herbal tobacco in the middle before the (black-) peppery hoppy finish; dried fruits, coffee roast and wood (vanilla) all come together, topped off with a dash of brown rum alcohol. Medium to full body, oily texture, average carbonation. Complex, bitter and elegant as a 'low-intensity' BA: the alcohol is certainly there, but the rum sits firmly within the big malt body. Lovely!

Bouteille 33cl @ La Tana, dégustée du verre de vincent, merci!
BB 04/11/2022+ 5 years / vintage 10/11/2020, lot# 20220056.

0.33 l bottle from 'Etre Gourmet', 2020 vintage, bottled in November 2022. Pitch black with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently roasty, fairly boozy and a bit fruity aroma of lots of rum, dark chocolate, licorice and some coffee. Quite sweet, malty, fairly roasty, slightly spicy and minimally fruity taste of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, rum, alcohol, juniper and some burnt bread, followed by a long, rather roasty-bitter, gently boozy finish. Full body, smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Interesting beer but doesn't convince. Have had far more pleasant rum BA stouts than this one. Still far from bad.

30/III/23 - 33cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker), shared @ Bieroloog bierproeverij, BB: +5Y, bottled: 4/XI/22, vintage 10/XI/20, lot: 20220056 (2023-280)
Pretty clear dark brown beer, small creamy beige head, pretty stable, a bit adhesive. Aroma: lots of soy sauce up front, pretty oxidized, spicy, tobacco, earthy, some caramel, dried fruits, chocolate notes. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: a bit sweet first, good roast, oxidized, bitter, hoppy touch? Lots of alcohol, coffee, a little smoky, sweet, caramel, oxidized. Aftertaste: soy sauce, alcohol, bitter, a bit sourish, more alcohol, some rum, a bit dry, some tannins, nice!
