Cask @ JDW Montomery's Tower. Relatively clear amber pour. Good spiced fruitcake nose. Taste is disappointingly thin and watery, some mild amber malt and spiced expressions, but generally falls flat.

[Cask at 4.3% at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading.] A copper coloured pour with a tight cream coloured head; sour fruity aroma; taste of caramel, red fruit and a little Christmas spice; then a dry spicy biscuity finish. A straightforward Christmas ale, not really to my taste.

A pleasant surprise to find this one on cask at the (new) Flying Horse (JDW) at Gatwick Airport, Clear amber coloured body, covering white head, rich lacing on the glassware. Inviting smell of brown malts. Well blended taste of caramel, bread and cinnamon. Smooth malty ending. Like it. (14.01.2019).

From cask at Flying Horse, Gatwick Airport, 11.01.19. Clear mahogany. Dense and persistent beige head and lacing. Aroma and taate of dark crystal malt and figs. A slight hint of sourness may indicate the the cask is slightly over the top.

Cask @ White Swan, Hebden Bridge. Dark amber with a creamy head. It's mildly ginger spiced in its taste, with a spiciness in its nose too, in an easy texture.

Qualitatively it's a decent ale. However the sweet spiciness is not to my taste.

On cask at the Standing Order. Appearance - deep amber to brown. Neat off white head. Nose - raisins, general cakiness. Taste - raisins, prunes and burnt bread. Palate - medium bodied and crunchy. Dry crunchy finish. Overall - a bit gnarly but good.

Cask at The Railway Inn, Winchester. Sharp citrus in the aroma, also malts. Light chestnut. Good frothy off-white head. Medium bitter, Malty, as per the aroma. Some citrus and spice in there. Light bodied and watery. Quite refreshing.

part of my 2013 backlog. Hazy amber colour, aroma has fruit. The taste has more fruit and spice. bittersweet finish.
