Cask at The Wellington - Birmingham during the RateBeer Black Country Bus Bash. This was, I think, the last beer of the day. I was pretty shattered by that point but I still could have gone on drinking pints of this stuff. Pours clear gold with a foamy white head. Crisp and dry citrus dominates the character, with notes of orange, grapefruit and light, dry minerals. A bit of pee, too. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Perfect condition. Very dry to finish with boat loads of citrus, notably lemon, orange and grapefruit. Absolutely gorgeous. Even after 13 hours of continuous beer drinking, I wish I had time to drink more of this beer. Stunning.

6th July 2013
Black Country Beano. Cask at the Wellington. Light haze on this gold beer. Little white head. Light floral hops. Semi sweet pine. Orange and a little pith. Finishes fresh, light, dry and minerally with stronger orange pith and peel. Nice beer but I wasn’t blown away as many were.

Cask at the Wellington, Brummingham, end of the RB Black Country pub crawl 06/07/13. Clear pale golden with a thin white head that dissipates edgeward. Nose is orange sherbet, hops, light toasty malt, hint of grapefruit. Taste comprises citrus, hops, light pine, mineral notes, sticky hop resin, juicy tropical light. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, crisp and clean in the execution. Quality golden blondeness - Oakham must push my average way up for this style!

It’s actually Citra Special, not Extra. Cask at The Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a hazy light straw colour with a bubbly white head. The aroma is grassy citrus leading to a weak bitter, grassy nettle hop flavour with a liqourice bitter, minty humbug palate. Goes down a treat on a hot summers day. Perfect for a barbie!
