13/3/2020. Cask at the Duke of York, Ipswich. Pours clear amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, bread, fruit, slight hoppy veggie edge. Medium sweetness with moderate bitterness. Moderate body, soft carbonation. Mauldons do make some good beers. This isn't one of them.

Hand-pulled pint in my local Wetherspoons on 22nd June 2016. Like some others, I found this ’a little off’. Looked fine, old gold/amber body, full, lasting head. Strange aroma, hops and maltiness within the nose but sulpher like esters too. Taste similar, decent enough blend but again something not quite right.

Handpull cask at the Townhouse, Ely. Honey brown and clear with a big white head and lots of lacing. Smells of apples, brass, rust. Tastes bitter with a fruity hint and some vinegar. Harsh almost acrid finish. Not all that pleasant, I’d wonder if it was off but I’ve never had an off beer from this pub so I think it’s just not very nice. I really, really struggled with this one.

Cask at the White Swan, Solihull. Poured a clear medium amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is dry malt leading to a medium to weak bitter flavour, with a smooth hoppy malt palate and lingering bitterness in the finish. Serve on the cool side for a fine session bitter.
