33cl Bottle from De Hopduvel, Gent. Clear golden colour, white head. Aroma is light fruity, esters, grain, cheap lager-like. Flavour is grainy, light sweet, fruity, esters, more grain, light skunk, bitter grainy finish. Light-bodied, over-carbonated. Not very nice imo.

“Brewed by a Japanese brewer in Belgium” says my bottle – I believe that he recently went back to Japan. Does this brewery / enterprise still exist actually? First contract brewed @ De La Senne (brilliant) followed by De Ranke (brilliant), St. Feuillien (very to good) then Van Den Bossche (okayish) so not the best evolution as far as I am concerned. I suppose the latter were more willing and had more to gain by taking contract brewing assignments. Label easily fools you into thinking that it is a Japanese beer upon sight which is the point if I am not mistaken. This is mainly meant to be sold at Japanese restaurants – odd but apparently profitable concept. A similar concept appears to be followed by Iki beer made by De Proef. Pours amber orange with a very patchy white head. Smells fruity, sweet herbal, some grass, sweet malts and touch of sweet malts and candy sugar. Taste is sweet herbal, dried orange peel, toffee, lightly metallic, grassy hops, sweet tea, ginseng, toffee, light candy sugar, nice hops. Carb. Is a bit soda-like. And the ginseng, tea & metals bit makes it come across a bit cheap but still this is actually quite enjoyable. Nice. (33 cl. bottle @ home. From Willems. BBF 22/09/2013)

Bottled (thanks Kim!). Amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is toffee, some mild yeast, rice and even a slight bit of alcohol sweetness. Flavour is fruity, mild rice, some sweet nectary and honeylike notes as well. A bit thin.

Light amber colour, small off-white head. Aroma of hops and malt. Light bitter, sweet malty flavour. Somewhat cloying sweet, light bitter finish.
Not the best beer made by Van Den Bossche imho, but I guess it has it’s market.

Draught at JCBF 2012. Fruity, yeast nose of cherry and earthiness. Decent amber color. Kind of typical Belgian amber, very fruity, though, well balanced and light. A bit too sweet but balanced by earthy hops. Decent.
