Bottle. Amazing. As a beer/coffee lover, this is basically the most perfect marriage I have found. Incredibly potent expresso aroma, with slight hints of dark chocolate. Flavor is rich and layered, creamy chocolate and coffee with some sweet, burnt malt character. Very smooth and huge in body. Lovely, lingering mocha aftertaste. An experience.

12 oz bottle. Pours black with a tan head. Has a strong aroma that is completely dominated by roasted coffee. Flavor is mostly coffee as well, with a significant bitterness from it, but lacks the richness of the aroma. Creamy, roasty finish.

Aroma: The nose is full of coffee (as you might expect), with some underlying chocolate notes
Appearance: It pours a dark brown-black color with a thin head and some spotty'drippy lace
Flavor: The flavor is heavy coffee and roasted/burnt malts, lightly sweet, and medium bitter
Palate: The body is medium-full, smooth coffee feel, clean, with a dry, roasty finish
Overall Impression: I can't say this one didn't need a re-rate, as it has been 4+ years. I do think I rated this beer too low the first time. It is a fairly one-dimensional coffee beer, but that one dimension is done fairly nicely. There's too much burnt coffee though. To me, that still feels like a flaw.

Aroma: The aroma is all about burnt/roasted coffee
Appearance: Dark brown color with a thin, light brown head with spotty lace
Flavor: Taste is lightly sweet up-front, with a big, long bitter coffee finish
Palate: Relatively full body, decent mouthfeel, pretty dry
Overall Impression: This is not a bad beer, but it might not be my style. This one tastes a lot like black coffee, but since I like my coffee with a little cream and sugar, I guess it's not made for me. It's a little too burnt in feeling for my tastes as well. Anyway, it's alright, but a bit one dimensional, as the coffee completely dominates this brew.

22nd July 2008. This is not a subtle coffee beer but it is a good one. The sumatran coffee is slightly sweet but retains it’s character. There is also some repressed fruit in the finish. Not too bitter.

Charcoal nose. Black pour, headless. Licorice, coffee, and charcoal, very dark and sooty tasting. Thin to medium bodied, low viscosity. Some bitter dark chocolate notes in the end. Dry and unbalanced.

Extremely good but very expensive ($15.99 for a six pack) stout that is consistent with two things: coffee and chocolate aroma & flavors. The description states \"truly enlightening beer\" and I couldn’t agree more. ----- Had this again in a single bottle purchase and it’s even better than I remember. Perfect blend of dark roast coffee and chocolate, rich and creamy.

Pours black with light brown head. Aromas of burnt malts and coffee. Slightly bitter roasted malt flavor with chocolate and coffee. Full body with moderate carbonation and a slick, oily mouthfeel. Another well done stout from Bells.

Pours deep black, with coffee/brownish head. Aroma is loaded with torrefied coffee and roastiness. Taste, coffee with nice chocolate malts and light mocha. Leaves a light bitter hoppy finish, mouthfeel is thick and malty. This one is loaded with nice coffee. Definitely a great coffee stout beer.

Pour is a black with a big thick tan head. Aroma is nice with lots of roasted malts and a nice chocolate. Flavor is also decent with some roasted nuts burnt malts and some wet hops. The coffee is there but it probably one of the lighter flavors to come out in the beer. Still this is a decent beer worth looking for.

12 oz bottle...Thank You Daknole!....Dark brown sugar head, dark dark brown body--almost mistook as black...Aroma is a fresh bag of whole bean coffee...bitter like Blue Mountain beans...after sitting less than 3 minutes, a sweetness enters the nostrils...so far a true coffee experience....fresh beans--then they are ground--cream is added--so far this is all before I have sipped it--ah the coffee is being created in my mind, now to taste-->Body is silky and smooth, rich and full, sweet, but not too sweet...coffee coffee and coffee...a bitterness in the finish--this beer defines coffee to me...dense and intense...lacing is dotted but sticks--overall balanced and easy to drink , yet it lingers on every taste bud...a wonderful caffeinated alcholated created beverage...palate nice, low carbonation--an alcohol infused coffee, but so much more,,,yum yum and yum I could drink this in the morning b4 the job...:)
