Isle Of Wight Holiday Beer#26. Bought at Osborne House, drank on the beach by Ryde Pier. Session stuff really as it has inoffensive amounts of garlic, hardly noticeable beyond it's more dominant hoppy character.

[50cl bottle, bought by my daughter at the Garlic Farm.] A chestnut brown pour with a tight cream head; roasted malt aroma; malty taste with some earthy caramel; and a sweet nutty finish. Fortunately no obvious sign of the garlic.

Old rating - A 500ml bottle from Haskins Garden Centre in Angermering, West Sussex. Poured at home in Jersey, It's brown with a white head. Aromas & tastes of fruits, grain, malt & mild hints of black garlic. Passable ale but the garlic is really difficult to detect.

Bottle from Anderson & Hill, Great Western Arcade, Birmingham. A bit pricey at £4.50 but its my first Isle of Wight rate. Clear amber, with small off-white head. Aroma of malts, some caramel, light fruitiness and grass. Not much garlic. Taste is similar, a bit basic but I'm not hating it as expected. Garlic is quite faint thank god.

500ml bottle from Mansgill Farm Shop. Amber brown colour, thin white foam head and aroma of malt, earthy notes. Taste is malt, toffee, caramel, fruity, with garlic hints, and some earthy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry bitter finish. Quite OK.

Bottle drunk at home. Semi-requested gift from my brother (I told him “bring me back some local beer” when he announced he was going on holiday to the iIsle of Wight). Pours the classic “bitter brown” with small, transient, offwhite head. There’s garlic and pepper in the aroma plus toast and hints of fruitiness. In the mouth it starts off quite wateyr, but this is soon forgotten once the flavours kick in. Mainly garlic again, with some old school hops and a malty sweetness hiding underneath. The garlic gets stronger in the finish. Rather nice – though I think one is enough !

500ml bottle [courtesy of Grumbo - cheers Graham!]. Clear, copper-ish, red colour with average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, white head. Mellow malty and fruity, hoppy aroma, hints of caramel, red berries, whiffs of garlic. Taste is minimally dry, mellow malty and fruity hoppy, hints of caramel, red berries; dry finish with whiffs of garlic. Watery texture, smooth and soft palate, fine and soft carbonation. Very subtle garlic flavours; adds simply a minimally spicy touch to a very harmonious and balanced bitter - very nice.

Bottle thanks to Stuu666. Appearance - amber with an off-white head. Nose - toffee, nuts and not a huge amount of garlic. Taste - light garlic heat. And lightly pungent. More toffee and nuts. Palate - medium bodied, dry finish. Overall - not as garlicky as I'd hoped.
