Brewed with heaps of chocolate malt, cacao nibs, and local, late season red raspberries from Agriberry Farm, Hardywood Raspberry Stout captures the essence of a decadent raspberry truffle in liquid form. A beguiling ale, this stout’s enticing cocoa aromatics build to a flavorful crescendo of full bodied dark chocolate, subsiding with a pleasantly sweet, tart raspberry jam laced finish. Pilot batch at 9.3% and 55 IBU.

500ml bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, April 18, courtesy of Paolo. Thanks Paolo. Pours dark, good tan head. Aroma has raspberry and chocolate. Taste has a good smooth raspberry character that blends nicely with the chocolate notes. Smooth and full on the palate. Well rounded with a good raspberry pip bitterness. Delicious.

Bottle split at GBBF’17, day three, 10/08/17. Black topped with a light tan cap. Nose is big on red berry fruits, chocolate, roast malts, spice, toffee. Taste comprises chocolate dipped raspberries, rocky roads, molasses, dried berry fruits, light spice, toffee fudge. Medium plus body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a mellow boost. Decent enough fruited impy.

Bottle shared in the train. A certain person spilled loads of this beer over my pants, thanks Alex of brewery Kwartje! Massive raspberries, soft roast and cocoa, earthy, light red currants, dark chocolate, light roast. Medium sweet, bitter and sour. Medium bodied. Quite nice, at least when it’s not all over my legs and shoes.

Bottle, 2014 from Jaybeer13 - thanks! Pours clear black, medium creamy tan head, dissipates slowly with good lacing. Aroma is overtly raspberry, cocoa, dark chocolate, roasted malts. Flavor is medium plus sweet, light bitter, raspberries, a bit of seed and stem action, cocoa, lingering tartness from the berries. Fullish body. Not bad, but fruit rarely makes a good adjunct in an imperial stout IMO>

Sampled @ 10th Danish Ratebeer Gathering, Ulfborg, Day 1. Opaque dark brown to black color, decent sized brown head. Smell and taste malts, dark malts, nice balanced raspberry influence, some chocolate, nicely bitter. Wow, I really like it. Normally I really dislike these sort of stouts with red fruit but this is really balanced. Very nice!
