Description
Enriching our communities through thoughtful beer experiences.
Peace Tree Brewing Company is dedicated to brewing handcrafted, full-flavored beers with a great attention to quality. Our brewery began in 2009 in a former Nash Rambler car dealership on Main Street in Knoxville, Iowa.
Head brewmaster Joe Kesteloot came to us with years of professional and home brewing experience and brought with him a true passion and creativity for developing his own unique recipes.
We held the grand opening for our 20-Bbl brewhouse in March 2010, and within a month, were producing and bottling our brews β hand-delivering them to stores, bars and restaurants around the state.
Brewing great beer is our passion, but we are also passionate about where we have come from and where we are going. The names of our beers often have connections to the places in our past, especially derived from memories and places in our community and our state.

On tap at Peace Tree, pours a hazy pinkish orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out tons of tart cranberries upfront, with moderate acidity. Flavour is along the same lines, with lots of tart cranberries and light lacto. The cranberries show up very well here.

On tap at Peace Tree, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted malt, with just a touch of lacto. Flavour is loaded with lacto and toasted malt in strange disharmony. Some leather in there and what I can shake as rotting notes. Not a cohesive or well-thought-out beer.

On tap at Peace Tree, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of saison yeast, with a touch of champagne character, and cereal malt. Flavour is similar, with saison yeast, champagne character and some light phenols in there intruding. Not particularly cohesive or complex, but it's drinkable.

On tap at Peace Tree, pours a clear copper golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out plenty of salt, with light citrus, and a touch of tanginess. Flavour is along the same lines, with plenty of salt, lots of lacto, and tart citrus. Not overly deep or authentic, but it's clean and drinkable.

On tap at Peace Tree, pours a fairly clear orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out rich resinous hops and heaps of caramel malt. Flavour is jagged, with lots of resinous hops, but more caramel malt. Sweet and not very well-balanced. Not at all how I like my IIPAs.

On tap at Peace Tree, pours a hazy copper golden with a small white head. Aroma is loaded with grapefruit upfront, covering up the sweaty, earthy hops from the base beer. Flavour is quite ascorbic on the grapefruit, with the sweaty, earthy hops driving through. The grapefruit doesn't rescue this. Not a fan.

On tap at Peace Tree, pours a clear copper golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out piney hops, earthy notes, and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is quite earthy in the hop department, with plenty of pine cones, and crisp biscuity malt. Not sure if this is an off-batch or if I've lost taste for this sort of thing. Sweaty, earthy finish Okay.

Draft/Fest. A- Bland, watery. A- Gold color, clear liquid, white head. T- Grains, bland. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, bland finish. O- Literally no flavor. Bud Light has more going on in it. Skunky yes, but at least some flavor. I seriously would think this is city tap water in a blind tasting.

Draft/Fest. A- Citrus, pine. A- Yellow color, clear liquid, white head. T- Citrus, pine, bitter. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, bitter finish. O- I can't believe how wrong they are. This is not only bitter but a little on the aggressive side. Try again.
