Description
Enriching our communities through thoughtful beer experiences.

Peace Tree Brewing Company is dedicated to brewing handcrafted, full-flavored beers with a great attention to quality. Our brewery began in 2009 in a former Nash Rambler car dealership on Main Street in Knoxville, Iowa.

Head brewmaster Joe Kesteloot came to us with years of professional and home brewing experience and brought with him a true passion and creativity for developing his own unique recipes.

We held the grand opening for our 20-Bbl brewhouse in March 2010, and within a month, were producing and bottling our brews – hand-delivering them to stores, bars and restaurants around the state.

Brewing great beer is our passion, but we are also passionate about where we have come from and where we are going. The names of our beers often have connections to the places in our past, especially derived from memories and places in our community and our state.

From me wife: pours golden with a white head. Aroma is flowers, bubblegum, fruitiness, yeast. Taste is sweet and flowery. Yeasty aftertaste. A bit apicy.

Draft. A- Banana, bubblegum, watery. A- Gold color, clear liquid, white head. T- Bubblegum, banana, clove, lemon, slightly sharp. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, fruity finish. O- Tasted more like a Hefe. Everyone else at the table hated it but I found it tolerable. Certainly not great but drinkable. Loads of pink bubblegum.

Draft/Fest. A- Rye, cleaning solution. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, tan head. T- Whisky, chocolate, boozy, mild spice. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Looking at my comments, I wouldn't think I would have liked this but I did. Fairly harsh nose and sharp flavors, but it meshed in a way that worked. Certainly needs fine tuned to be really good but it still worked in it's current form.

Deep coppered and amber coloured body with a tan head, about one to two centimetres tall. Aroma of crisp stale hops without any real bitterness or pungency, also showing some funky sugars, a touch of light biscuity and earthy malt and only a touch of citrus. Light-bodied; Strong funky and stale malt flavours that dominate up front with biscuits, stale yeast, grain, earth and some pungency that only shows a touch of hop bitterness at the end that is much grassier and herbal than I expected and most IPAs. Aftertaste shows the grassiness, a lot of malt, some funk and a lot of yeast flavours with nothing really cohesive or reminiscent of a traditional IPA. This tastes more like a stale APA with even more of a malt vibe, and not in a good way. Overall, a pretty underwhelming beer from any front, but too much malts, not enough complexity, some off-flavours and a bite of grass makes this passable for enjoyers of any style, but especially IPAs. I sampled this stubby twelve ounce bottle (that was the best part of this one) purchased from BeerTopia in Omaha, Nebraska on 05-February-2018 for US$1,67 sampled in my hotel room here in Omaha, Nebraska two days later on 07-February-2018.
