Bottle: Dark brown/copper with a small beige head. Toffee, lightly smoky malt aroma. Baked bread, toffee malt, chocolate malt taste. More along the lines of a porter or brown ale, really, but quite nice..... Good flavour....lighter bodied than expected.

12 oz. bottle at the Sun Room Bar at the Lake Hotel in Yellowstone. Pours a light, hazy, brownish orange color, with a small, fizzy, tan head. The aroma is a touch of rye spice under a general character of clover honey. There are notes of lemon and berries, with some cloves. Honey sweetness, with very little bitterness, but a nice rye spice that gives in a nice kick. Medium body, smooth feel with a light bite in the finish. This is hardly the best rye beer I’ve had, and it is too sweet, but it works surprisingly well, in my opinion. Subtle, drinkable, and fun.

12 oz bottle from the $10,000 Bar in Montana. Aroma is perfumy, floral, caramel, spicy, buttered toast. Pours hazy copper with a medium bone-white head that falls into a collar after a minute; laces a little. Taste is sweet and caramelly, finishing lightly bitter. Too malty for my tastes. Not sure how old it is.

Draft at Boise Fry Company. Lots of lively carbonation, negligible head. Medium amber body highlights the malts, mildly sweet throughout. Kind of sticky finish. Solid amber.

Pours a dark nearly opaque brown. Aroma of chocolate, cola. Flavor of the same, very sweet I think, little bitterness. If tasted without a label I would have called it a porter, not a scotch ale. Meh.
