Tap at 1020. Lovely, cloudy orange pastel, with a low, fine head. Hoppy citrus and passion fruit nose, basically no apple or ginger evident. Tangy, prickly hop, lemon, orange, peach flavor starts out nicely, some sweet biscuit malts, and then become crazily hot, bitter, and raunchy from the ginger. Medicinal and burning astringent finish which is almost unbearable. A very strange beer. Almost no ginger taste until the final death blow. Started out lovely.

On tap at the Iwate-ken event near Umeda Station. Great color on this one a deep amber almost ruby with an off-white head. Fruity nose with hints of caramel. Smooth medium body, taste is fruity, caramel, candy & a nutty vibe in the finish. Overall pretty good, somewhat sweeter than I am used to in a red ale but nice.

On tap at the Iwate-ken event near Umeda Station. A cloudy orange gold pour with a citrusy hop nose is solid - 7, taste is also quite good-7, medium bodied with straight up pine P-4 , citrus & grapefruit flavors. Mild puckering it’d act like a good palate cleanser. Quite tasty, if they got this clear & the color of their golden ale it would be a strong solid IPA. The look of it really hurts the overall rating.

On tap at the Iwate-ken event near Umeda Station. It pours a dark brown with ruby accents almost black, tan head with tinges of burnt orange-nice, 4. Nose of umami & coffee. Light body with the same kind of zesty carbonation, decent flavor, burnt/roast notes, coffee. Tasty enough 3.4 surprised to hear it is 7% also made with real oysters, as it warms up it really comes together. Smoother body, a touch of salty brineyness counterbalanced by coffee & creamy chocolate, earthy, event hints of smoke. 3.6-3.7

On tap at the Iwate-ken event near Umeda Station. It pours a nice deep gold color. Kind of dark for a golden ale & has a citrusy hop aroma. It has nice fruity flavors with just a hint of citrusy hops & candy sweetness. Quite tasty, a decent golden ale that ticks the right boxes. A bit hoppier than most golden ales but good.

On tap at the Iwate-ken event near Umeda Station. A milky cloudy light honey gold pour. Yeasty winish aroma. Light body, champagne type carbonation but the taste is sweet cardboard. Oxidized, serious issues with this one. Tastes more like some kind of cider or fruit beer. Drain pour/chucked it. Awful.

This Aqula, Fukushimaji Beer & Iwate Kura collaboration beer pours a cloudy gold with a cm of foamy off-white head. The nose is faint ginger & citrusy hops. Possibly a touch of fruity apple as well. A bit of a musty aroma makes me feel it would pair well with cheese. The taste is bitter, yeasty, kind of getting some Belgian yeast notes, ascerbic pine bitterness in the mouth. The body/look is reminiscent of a fruit beer but body feels medium but the beer tastes light. Not much apple or ginger coming through more of a one-dimensional IPA, I’d prefer more fruitiness but then again I dig fruit beers.

On tap at Qbrick’s Strong Beer Event, served in a snifter a dark reddish brown almost black with minimum head. The aroma is redolent of sweet dark fruits, red grapes, plums & figs-delicious! The body is viscous & thick a substantial beer. The taste is sweet, fruity, caramel, candy, with a very light zesty carbonation. A fun Barleywine, with some burn as it goes down your throat & warms your belly but no real overt booziness. Quite good. The one negative in the nose after warming up it can give strong nail polish chemical notes in the aroma.

4%, 700 yen on tap at Ushitora. A perfectly clear deep yellow gold pour with just a film of foam on top. The taste is well balanced, wheat/oat flavors, then a bitter bite that acts as a combination palate cleanser & primer for the next sip. Really well done, flavorful, not overly sweet & well balanced. A very nice English bitter.

Tap at Tenma BB. Nicely malty nose, light caramel, earth, grass, cherries, bread. Deep gold to light amber with a low head. Very bready, malty flavor but not sweet. Crackers, earthy, grassy hops. Very enjoyable and tasty.
