This brew pours dark brownish-black with a thin khaki head that diminishes to a film eventually. Top ring of lacing with spots underneath. Mildly roasty aroma with notes of chocolate malt and coffee. Medium, somewhat creamy body with flavors of mild coffee, milk chocolate and malt. The finish is roasted coffee with a mildly bitter aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

12 ounce bottle from Woodman’s West Madison. Pours a slightly hazy brown with a thin creamy tan head. Decent head retention and lacing. The aroma is purely overwhelming diacetyl. Caramel, butterscotch, buttered popcorn, some faint nuttiness if I really look deeply. Ick. The taste is caramel, nuts, butterscotch. Not as bad as the aroma but almost cloyingly sweet. Very faint hops in the finish.

Draft at Old Fashioned. Opaque brown-black with a nice foamy beige head. Medium bodied and dry, with chocolate tones. Not so smoky, very mild at best. There is a grainy richness, assumably from the hemp seed. rather straightforward, except for the dry mossiness. OK, but certianly not World Class.

Draft at Old Fashioned. Medium dark amber orange-brown. Thin, patchy head. Not much in aroma, some faint soapy hops. Some off flavors in the background, buttery. Grainy, dirty mouthfeel. The hops do help to combat the off flavors. Watery, medium bodied. Lots of soapy, one dimensional hop tones. Pretty sub par offering, sessionable I suppose.

Draft at Old Fashioned. Hazy, cloudy golden yellow, kind of odd for an oktoberfest. Thin, filmy head. Some buttery off aromas, not horrendous, but still noticeable. Creamy, not really true to style at all, I don’t get any German lager notes. Medium bodied butter-fest. Miss. Failure.

Draft at Dexters. 10%. Black-brown, a hint of orange. Cloudy. Big off-white/beige head. Rich caramel tones, very malty. Mild hops are quite overwhelmed by the sugar sweetness of the malt. A little boring as far as mouthfeel, almost watery, but still captures the style well enough. Big and brutal, resinous sugary chocolate finish.

Draft at Old Fashioned. Filtered orange-tan color. Sweet, true to style aroma, some flowery hops. Rich and fairly sweet malt tones. A twisted up interpretation for sure. Sub par.

Bottle from badnewsbeers. Deep opaque brown body, medium tight, clumping tan head. Light nose with coffee, chocolate, and woody acidity. Woody, roasty body, soft and creamy, with a bitter, roasted malt finish. Some chewy chocolate and dark fruit in the mix. Pretty good.

Bottle from badnewsbeers. Deep translucent red-brown body, thin buff head. Toasty nose, woody and acidic with chocolate. Thin, somewhat creamy body with brown sugar, nuts, toast, and hints of fig and grapeskin in addition to leafy tobacco-like hops. Roasty character in the finish. Soft and pillowy with a light flavor profile. Pleasant.

Bottle thanks to iceicebaby. Pours a hazy golden brown with a thick white head that lasted. Aroma is a combination of sweet malts, mainly caramel, and pine hops. Flavor begins sweet with caramel malts, but the pine hops grow quickly leading to quite a pine finish.
