Roasty aroma with some coffee and nutty notes. Medium-bodied with a toasted malt and coffee flavor, as well as a bit of chocolate. The finish is dry and roasty with a mild hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Sample at the Columbus location. Clear dark brown color with a medium off-white head that has decent retention. Stringy lacing. The aroma is nutty and has malty characteristics as well. Medium-bodied with a smooth texture. The flavor is sweet malt, nuts and soft hops. The finish is mildly bitter and does not linger much. Aside from the clever name, it is average all around.

Hard Liver ’08
Orangey-amber colour. Orangey-tangerine aroma. Thick, boozy, orangey hops, big chewy notes. Clean, orangey...a chewy marmaladey example. Hard Liver ’07
Hazy amber colour. Aroma shows a lot of sugars...of the standard chewy/earthy variety. Full body. Big brown sugar finish. A little simple. 5 3 6 3 12 = 2.9

Sample at the Columbus location. Pours a cloudy orange color with a medium thin off-white head with fair retention. Spotty lacing. The aroma consists of sweet fruit and yeast. Sample at the Columbus location. This beer is a clear yellow/golc color with a thin white head that dissipates pretty quickly. Thin spotty lacing. Mildly hoppy and sweet aroma. Light-bodied and bubbly with a lightly hopped flavor with notes of straw. There is an underlying sweetness as well. The finish is light hops and grain, without much aftertaste. Overall this is pretty much par for the course on "starter" beers at brewpubs like this.

On draught at the Columbus location, nitro style. Pours flat black with a medium thick and creamy beige head that has good retention. Spotty lacing. The aroma is roasty with some chocolate and malt. Medium-bodied and smooth with a rich chocolate flavor, along with roasted coffee and malt. The alcohol peeks through once in awhile and the 8+% ABV is really the only thing that saves this beer from falling short. The finish has a sweet chocolate malt flavor and leaves a mildly bitter hops aftertaste. Better than expected, but nowhere near the better Imperial Stouts out there.

On draught at the Columbus location. Pours black with a wispy off-white head and thin stringy lacing. Light coffee and chocolate aroma, as well as a bit of malt. Medium-bodied and smooth with a roasted malt character, and mild hops and coffee flavors underneath. The finish is creamy and smooth and leaves a chocolatey aftertaste. Pretty good, and an encouraging start to my first exposure to this brewub chain.
