Description
We launched Fullsteam in 2010 with a single mission: to explore what it means to be a Southern brewery. Sometimes that definition means brewing with foraged and farmed adjuncts. Other times it means making innovative beers with local grain. And sometimes it means just making true-to-style beers more Southern in temperament.

In our nearly ten years focused on this mission, Fullsteam has purchased more than $500,000 in Southern-farmed ingredients. We track our commitment to the Southern Beer Economy in our monthly farm reports.

Whether it’s the beer we brew, the food we cook, or the events we host, we believe in connecting people to the land and to one another. And through it all, we aim to keep it fun. Beer should be fun.

Month old can > stemless wine glass A: Hazy pale yellow with a huge head, retaining well and lacing in patches. S: Wheat and lemons mostly with light herbal notes. T: Tart lemon flavor with peppery spice and wheat crackers. Basil is barely perceptible. M: Light body with very stiff carbonation scrub and clean dry finish. O: Not bad at all, surprisingly since I don’t particularly care for saisons or wheat beers.

2017 version. Big thanks to Val & Ben for this big can! Nice labels on these new style silver cans. Poured room temperature. Odd IPA & metal aroma. My first taste impressions is: Not as IPA-ish as I was expecting. Citrus and a little tea fer sure. During the session more bitterness sets in. Finishes with a medium IPA kick in the face. In the end its a stronger duller alky impact than the 5% would indicate. If you like stronger APA or milder IPA, ignore my numbers, pretty much on style.

Pour is a hazy golden with a large white head. Aroma is of slight coffee and slight roasted nuts. Flavor is like a cookie. A dry biscuit malt with some white sugar and again a slight coffee. This was just canned on 5/15/17 and I’m not getting a huge coffee, more of a roast than full on coffee, so I don’t think it would have faded by now. It’s ok as a Dort/Helles the coffee did not add much.

Pour is a milky looking yellow with a large white head. Aroma is yeast ester with some white wine. Flavor is very herbal with some honeysuckle and other floral notes. I also get some kiss of citrus and a touch of sweet honey. Interesting and different but flavorful and enjoyable.

$2.10 can from Wine Warehouse. Golden, rich off-white head. Aroma is lightly floral, orange. Flavor is orange, dirty... reminds me of first grade and using those stupid blue laddie pencils, dry. Fine, I guess, but also meh.

Can from Growlers to Go. Murky golden-orange with a somewhat frothy head and some light, spotty lace. Spice, tea, and herbal aroma. Some light fruity notes. Flavor is light sweet, a little thin, mild bitterness. Thin feel, light bodied. Okay overall.

Can. Canning date 2/23/2017. Dammit. I knew I should have checked before buying. Pours clear golden, large white head, good lacing. Aroma is caramel and pine, aged IPA. Flavor is medium sweet, and light plus biter. Aged IPA. Medium body. Not really their fault, other than allowing their stuff to be sold at places that don’t give a shit.
