Hazy golden colour, white head. Aroma of hops, malts, marmelade, floral notes, citrus. Hoppy flavour, straw, lemon zest, light bitter. Finish straw, malts, light biscuit. Nice!

Bouteille 50cl de et partagée avec Tderoeck. BB 15/11/2013.

17/I/14 - 50cl bottle from Diesters Bierfestival @ home - BB: 15/XI/13 (2014-48)

Note: only got my hands on the bottle around Christmas, so the 3 weeks extra won't have made the difference I guess.
Little hazy dark orange beer, irregular small creamy head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: very fruity, pineapple, citrus, passion fruit, bit grassy, hint of (malt) sweetness. MF: soft carbon, medium body, creamy texture. Taste: citrus fruits, passion fruit, mango, nice piny bitterness, little sweet, some honey. Aftertaste: sweet, mango, peaches, citrus, lots of pineapple, some passion fruit again, bit piny, malty sweet ending. Lovely beer!

330ml bottle at home. Heard stories that Rebel beers tend to be a bit flat, and this is about as flat as it gets. Hugely disappointing in that respect. Pours tar black with a big roasted malt character, some chocolate and a little coal dust. No doubt with some carbonation this beer could live up to its potential but even then this perhaps has too much roasted elements for my tastes.

At the Famous Navy Volunteer, Bristol 21/11/2013. Deep brown with a decent, off-white head. Sweet, and fruity, with some caramel and berries, a yeasty edge and gentle finish. Good.

Hand-pulled half-pint at lunchtime in The Crown Inn, Oakengates on 13th Dec 2013. Golden body with a full snow white head. Floral feel to the hop and malty nose, orange blossom being the main flowery aroma. Those orange notes continue into the taste, this is a fruity brew with only a passing hint of hop bitterness or malt sweetness. Different and almost interesting. An OK session Ale with enough ’unique’ flavours to test your taste buds even if they are not excited.

Gravity dispense at the White Horse winter ales fest, 22/11/13. Mid black with a thin tan covering that retains well. Nose is toffee fudge, cocoa, light booze, slightly lactic tang. Taste comprises tangy dark fruit, light metallic nip, cocoa, spice, lactic tang, rich chocolate melt. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying closure with light spicing. Ok impy but lower down the order for the style.

(Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 22 Nov 2013) Black colour with frothy, pale brown head. Malty nose with lots of chocolate and cocoa, notes of vanilla. Malty, roasted taste with dark chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, coffee and a slightly citric bitterness in the finish. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Hardly balanced, but very tasty with loads of chocolate and cocoa. Nice one.

330ml bottle from a friend. Pours an unwelcoming murky orange-brown, fairly lively on opening, receding to very little head fairly quickly. Has a diluted spicyness, with disappointingly weak wit flavours and slightly overripe bananas. Overall it just doesn’t taste as fresh and flavoursome as wits should.
