Bottle at a ChrisO tasting - London. Pours hazy, rich gold with a medium, foamy white head. Leafy, toasty malt nose with hints of honey. Medium sweet flavor, toasty dough, some grainy cereal. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Moderate leafy bitterness to finish, with more toast and dough. Really nothing to write home about.

Bottle from Craft Beer Rising. It pours very dark brown with a medium beige head. The nose is earth, toast, coffee grinds and cocoa. The taste is earth, toast, bitter chocolate, coffee, light soy sauce and burnt notes with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Fairly straight-forward and unexciting schwartzbier.
