Tap at the brewery - pours a medium ruby/brown - does not resemble a hefe in look, nor in flavor - tastes strongly of coconut, roast, hazelnut, moderate acidity - I wild guess brown ale going in blind - none of the phenolics or esters expected from the style - some sweet vanilla an lingering coconut in the finish, but also an odd bitterness - not entirely terrible, but when you market something as a Hefeweizen, it should at least marginally resemble one.

Draft. Clear yellow color, white head. Aroma of light cereal. Taste is subtle citrus. Plain but easy drinking.

Can - decent brown with a fairly well-executed coffee infusion - moderate character of the bean with a fair amount of the flavor, but minimal acid or bitterness - malt is medium sweet, with some hazelnut - a touch of earthy tobacco leaves, moderate roast - medium carbonation and body - decent.

Can. A- Sweet corn, malty, slightly sweet. A- Yellow color, cloudy liquid, white head. T- Sweet corn, grains, malty. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, malty finish. O- This was all over the board average. For some reason, the person in me who loves simplicity and the color yellow saw the can and though this is going to be a good beer. Turns out as usual the can doesn’t make the beer taste good. Average all around.

Tap at the brewery - clean, crisp, medium-dry session IPA - lean malt base allows citric and bright peppery and earthy hoppiness - a bit of tropical fruit - tasty.

Can. A- Bitter, oranges, soft. A- Orange color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Oranges, subtle citrus, bitter, pine, creamy. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, slightly bitter finish. O- I kind of expected a Belgian IPA taste from this one. Not so much, but that’s what I get for always expecting. Tasted like a soft IPA with not a ton going on although the oats and lactose really gave it a creamy nice mouthfeel.

12 oz can purchased at Metcalf Discount Liquor on 135th Street in Overland Park, Kansas. The pour is a pretty, hazed golden yellow with a one inch well formed off white head. The aroma is grassy hops along with clean cracker malt. Nice balance of aromas. The taste is the hay grass of the hops, along with cracker malt, earth and a touch of peanut shell. Pleasant subdued bitterness to the finish. The palate is light to medium bodied, with medium carbonation and the clean softly bitter finish. Solid, well made Pale Ale.

Hazy gold - soapy lace - nose of sweet pear, tangy acidity, white grape, moderate spiciness - quite bitter for the style, but the high sweetness counters this a little - pear is somewhat present, along with white grape - finish is pretty high on the spiciness - it’s okay.

Pint at the brewery - lightly hazy copper - given the abv and ibu, I was expecting a more traditional german rauchbier, which this is not (or if it’s supposed to be, it doesn’t taste like it) - more ale-like in character, with a very dry and.biscuity malt.flavor, but also a slight tanginess - the finish is watery and a little husky - smoke character is lovely in the nose, but in the flavor is a little ashy and astringent - a bit disappointing.

The aroma is grass, cracker malt and some dry earth near the back. The taste is softly bitter grass, cracker malt, and a bit of dry hay to the finish. The palate is light bodied, active carbonation and a dry finish. Clean, easy drinking beer.
