Slightly Hazy amber and copper coloured body with a thinnish, fast-dying tan head. Aroma of alcohol, sugars, light caramel and a boatload of hops and a touch of grapefruit, but there is seemingly more malt and alcohol than hops in this one. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong rich malty flavour with a lot of grain, alcohol, astringent and bittering notes throughout with some slight grapefruit flavours to couple with the light hop notes, but this is about all alcohol and grain. Aftertaste is a bit too much on the alcohol and malt side and not enough of the hops and grapefruit (especially). Overall, a pretty poor Imperial IPA that has a ton of alcohol, but not much else, and certainly not enough hops or grapefruit flavours. Worth passing up, especially if you plan to bring this home with you. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Total Beverage in Thornton, Colorado on 07-June-2017 for US$4,69 sampled at home in Washington a tad more than a month later on 09-July-2017.

12 ounce can into pint glass, no can dating. Pours lightly hazy dark brown/light reddish/copper color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big caramel, brown sugar, maple syrup, toffee, vanilla, and toasted brown bread; with light notes of nuttiness, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, and herbal, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts, maple flavoring, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, maple syrup, toffee, vanilla, and toasted brown bread; with light notes of nuttiness, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, and herbal, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness. Mild herbal/spicy hop and roast bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, maple syrup, toffee, vanilla, toasted brown bread, nuttiness, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, maple flavoring, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Slight dryness from hop/roast bitterness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and slightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6%. Overall this is a delicious flavored American porter. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, maple flavoring, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Nicely rich and complex for the ABV; great maple flavor presence, without overwhelming the base beer. Just enough hops to balance the sweetness. A very enjoyable offering.

Nice rich brown coloured body with a large, soapy tan head, about four centimetres tall and leaving a pretty ugly lace. Aroma of pure coffee tea (cascara), or dried coffee cherry fruit along with some caramel, a bit of nuts and a very dry earthy, musty scent and a big dose of oatmeal. Light to Medium-bodied; Assertive nutty and earthy flavours dominate with the definite coffee cherry flavour along with some oats, a little caramel and a finish that shows a bitter hop note. Aftertaste is mostly of the oats and coffee cherries, but also some hay, earth, nuts and a touch of the sugars. Overall, a nice and refreshing beer, but still with a lot of flavours and definitely interesting and different than the same old tried and true beer recipes. Nice to try and perhaps even better, given that it was in a can. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Colorado Liqour Outlet in Colorado Springs, Colorado by my boss - thanks Jeff on 02-January-2016, sampled in my hotel room here in New York, New York on 08-June-2017.

Keg at Whole Foods Wauwatosa. Hazy orange, thin creamy tan head, decent retention. Aroma of grapefruit zest, pith, booze, pale malt, resin. The taste is tropical fruit, grapefruit, pine, pale malt. Medium bodied, strong lingering bitterness.

Sample at Collaboration Fest on 03/25/2017. Brownish-amber color with a medium thick light beige head that recedes steadily to a dense film. Small patches of lace. Roast malt, caramel and hops in the nose. Medium body with a peaty malt character and notes of ripe fruit and earthy hops. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

Keg at Whole Foods Wauwatosa. Very dark brown, medium fizzy brown head, good retention. Aroma of maple, chocolate, caramel. Taste is roasted malt, maple, caramel, mild hops. Medium bodied, mild lingering bitterness.

Can. Orange, caramel, rye malt, and grapefruit peel aroma. Hazy golden yellow with small head. Moderately sweet orange caramel malt and moderately bitter pine/grapefruit peel flavor. Decent body. Nice.

Can: Very hazy amber/orange with a short beige head. Bready, rye, caramel aroma. Taste is caramel malt, rye, grapefruit-peel.... A bit resiny and oily..... Nicely hopped and a good balance to it.
