Description
We started brewing in Burton-Upon-Trent in 1834. Then in 1898 we got itchy feet. So we moved down the road to the Albion brewery. We still like it so we’ve not moved again since.
We came to Burton for the water. Well, for the rocks the town was built on to be precise. The water trickles down through a thick layer of gypsum before we bring it back up again through our well. That’s what gives our beers the depth of flavour, character and crisp refreshing bitterness that you won’t find anywhere else in the world.

Bottled. Goldeny amber colour with a mediumsized off-white head. Aroma is toffee, some floral and mild raisin notes along with some wood. Flavour is wooden, toffeeish, raisins and some slight floral notes. Low on the bitterness, but still very smooth to drink.

First beer after getting released, drink with Bernd while the floating screed dries at our house addition. Nice bready biscuit nose. Flavor is nutty, earthy goodness; moderate body and foresty bitterness. Quite nice.

A little worse than average. Old school east coast bitter pale ale. A bit harsh since the livliness of these bottles has died out. Likely 11 months old. Kellys ams

Bottle on 28th July 2023 from Morrison’s, Holloway. Pours a clear amber with shallow diminishing foam affording scant lacing. Hoppy aroma. Biscuit malts and leafy, grassy hoppiness in-mouth. A grassy hop finish. Medium bodied with an engaging texture.

500ml bottle from Spar, Llanfyllin. Pours dark brown, excellent creamy off-white head. Aroma of brown ale malt, fruitcake. Taste is smooth with a lovely subtle toffee sweetness with fruitcake and dried dark fruits. Really quite nice.

Golden pour with a small white head. Aromas of citrus and tropical fruits, a hint of malt. Taste is similar, but adding some hops. Overall alright for a oub session, given the alternatives on offer.
