Description
We started brewing in Burton-Upon-Trent in 1834. Then in 1898 we got itchy feet. So we moved down the road to the Albion brewery. We still like it so we’ve not moved again since.
We came to Burton for the water. Well, for the rocks the town was built on to be precise. The water trickles down through a thick layer of gypsum before we bring it back up again through our well. That’s what gives our beers the depth of flavour, character and crisp refreshing bitterness that you won’t find anywhere else in the world.

Bottle from Morrisons Supermarket, Moston. Golden with a head. Traditional tasting pale ale, sessionable, with some hoppiness evident in both aroma and taste, and some mild citrus fruitiness.

As mass produced amber ales go this one is pretty decent. Slight banana esters in the aroma. Slight bitterness with malty backbone. From memory I think this is better than the filtered version.

had a slight sour taste to me, not what I expect from a golden ale. Maybe it was a bit past it but had a drink by date in 3 months time and its been stored cold.

500ml bottle. Poured a clear dark amber colour a mostly lasting frothy off-white head. The aroma is malt and red berry fruits. The flavour is moderate bitter and sweet, with a smooth, malt, nutty, floral, woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.
