About
The Northwest has been enjoying the longest running, independently-owned brewery since 1983. Founded from a passion for English brewing methods, Hales first introduced cask and nitrogen conditioned ales to the region.

Bottle from Brewers Haven. Picking up some Belgian notes right away, yeasty, musty aroma. Would not put this in as an amber, although lots of caramelly malt late on the palate. Cloudy dark amber body with small soapy head. Lingering bitter finish and minor warmth.

Draft pour pint at the 192 lake trail taproom, though I was told I mispronounced the name of this beer due to my lack of accent. Can you even lack an accent? Or just have a different one than another. Beer rating thoughts. I impress myself sometimes. Power is out but the beer is pouring. It’s the only thing to really do during a power outage. Reading requires a light source, as well as willingness to read. Beer sits there and says, "hey, why not me?" And I say "good point." To be homest, I didn’t even know Hales brewed a stout. I frequent the brewery, so i either don’t pay attention, or I don’t realize that everybody has a stout. Pours a near black with a tan fizz head. Soft roasted malt aroma. Flavor is light chocolate, roasted malt, and a suprising high carb for my usual stout. Has a warming feel to the finish, making it quite fitting to the name. I dislike winter, but love winter beers. Nicely done. Reading back to myself what I write in these ratings, a slightly hope I’m the only one who suffers through reading them.

Bottle shared with Jake 65, Buckeyeboy and JohnGalt1. Smooth and semi-sweet RIS, not overly boozy, but hints are there. Warming, tasty, slick.
