Description
Birbant is one of the pioneers of Polish craft brewing - bold, independent, and driven by creativity. We don’t follow the noise - we brew what truly matters.

Birbant (pronounced ‘beer-bunt’; Polish for ‘bon vivant’) contract brewery was established in 2013 by Jarek and Krzysiek (a.k.a. Kuli), two brewers and beer enthusiasts. Jarek is a professional brewer, who’s worked with several different breweries, while Kuli started brewing at home in 2003 and in the ten years before Birbant many of his home batches earned him awards at homebrew competitions. In their own words: “We have worked together on new recipes for a few years now. Our goal is to make flavorful and exceptionally aromatic beers we would like to drink ourselves.”

Can, tasting at Ryan's; Oct 2021, 1.5 years old
Black colour. Aroma of peat, petrol. Good body, moderate residual sweetness; peat, dung, a lot of tar, and some roasted malt and ashes in the finish; warming alcohol.
Fun beer, not an elegance champion though.

330ml @ Ryan's. Appearance: dark brown with a nice beige head. Aroma: peat LOADED, mazut, sweet, very smoky. Taste: along the same lines, super peaty, I felt like I was drinking ink. Overall: peaty as hell. Do NOT get it if you don't like peat.

Dark brown. Just a thin head. On the nose, all sorts of peat smoke. Islay in Polska! On the palate, more peat smoke. This is the beer equivalent of Smokehead. A little chocolate and toffee but that's not really sufficient base to cover this smokey peat bomb. So it's definitely unbalanced.

Poured from 330mL can (pkg 26.10.2021). Near black with small light beige head. Iodine, tons of smoked peat, simple, not a lot of other layers, but decently done for a relatively one note beer.
