Description
Independent and family-run since 1900, the Warenghem distillery is located in Lannion on the north coast of Brittany.

In 2001 is the introduction of brewing and commercialisation facilities for Bier Breizh (Breton beer). Inspired by the distillery's technical know-how, Gilles Leizour expands the distillery's brewing facilities to produce beer. Bier Breizh is launched shortly afterwards, subsequently renamed Diwall.

Hazy golden with medium white short lasting head leaving laces. Wheaty and spicy aroma with orange peel and yeast. Flavor is odly enough somewhat smoky and sweet. Found notes of yeast and coriander as well. Weird witbier...

Bottle: Clear, amber coloured, quickly collapsing off-white fluffy head, stronger traces of smoke in the nose, underpinned by caramel malt and an illusion of hops; moderate sweetish flavour, rather light bodied for a beer of 6.% ABV; quite soft sweet-malty finish, underpinned by hops and smoked malt. Not really unpleasant, but not convincing......

Bottle: Straw golden coloured, creamy, stable off-white layer, visible carbonation, citrousy-fruity nose with a distinctive touch of smoked malt; moderate sweet-sourish flavour, medium bodied, creamy MF; traces of tartness in the lemony-smoked finish. Really not unpleasant..........

Bottle. Clear, golden beer with an off-white head. The head is rather quickly diminishing, large-bubbled and off-white color. Cellar, some wet paper, caramel-sweetness and fruityness. Salty, slightly alcoholic flavor, sweet and a bit smoked, and some fruityness in the finish. There’s also caramel and some smoke in the finish. Medium body. It’s better than the Blonde, but still mighty strange. (071004)

Bottle. Clear, golden-yellow beer with a small, white head. Wet paper, some cellar, a vague fruity note and some grain in the aroma. The flavor is surprisingly different, with tar and smoke, some grain, grass and fruit and salt. Salty, smoked and hop-fruity finish. Medium body. Weird mix of flavors. Where Refsvindinge Skibsøl tastes like an old sailship, this one has the ocean added as well. (071004)

(33cl bottle) Clear, golden colour with a medium-sized frothy white head. Discreet aroma: light-sweet and sweaty malty nose with subtle smoky accents and a touch of acidity. Light-sweet and slightly tart flavour; light body impression, although it has 6.0%abv; crispy mouthfeel. Malty and slightly sweaty taste with very subtle fruity notes; moderately sweet and light smoke-malty finish with a faint bitterness. Not bad at all; also the Warenghem Amorik Single Malt Whisky is worth a try.

(33cl bottle) Clear, amber colour with a medium-sized, slightly off-white frothy head. Light-sweet malty, slightly toasty, minimal peaty nose. Light-sweet flavour with a whiff of bitterness, quite light bodied for its abv; crispy mouthfeel. Slightly smoked malty, subtle fruity taste; moderately sweet and soft tart-fruity finish with light peaty notes. Has a likeable character of its own.

(33cl bottle) Cloudy, golden and very effervescent hue with a medium-sized but rapidly diminishing frothy white head. Yeasty and coriander-spicy nose with restrained citrus-fruity and wheaty notes. Light-sweet and bitter flavour with a faint tartness, light to medium bodied with a lively carbonation. Initially the coriander dominates the taste, which has a moderate wheat-character, accompanied by yeast and light fruity accents; the smoky notes turn out towards the finish, starting rather subtle but become a bit more evident in the aftertaste. At least a somewhat interesting brew.

Deep blond color. Poor straw aroma. The flavor is surprising, there is some sweetness and light smokey taste, not bad.
