Test vom 27.10.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 13,12,13,13,-,13 - 12,84

Frisch malzig-fruchtiger Antrunk, prickelnd. Weiter malzig, zum Mittelteil herber werdend, um gleich darauf den Hopfen loszulassen. Im Nachgeschmack nehmen die Aromen nur langsam ab, das Bier ist weiter dezent malzig und feinherb. Erfrischend! Test vom 7.8.2007, Gebinde: Fass Noten: 11,11,12,12,-,12 - 11,73

(draught at the brewpub) Slightly hazy. Golden colour with a fluffy, slightly yellow head. Yeasty, light-sweet pale malt aroma, slightly greenish and fruity with a distinctive spicy and grassy hoppy note. Sweet flavour with a light bitter edge, light to medium bodied, medium carbonation. Yeasty, honeyish malty taste, with a fruity touch (pears, banana); sweet, worty and a bit sticky finish with a tinge of bittering grassy hops.

(draught at the brewpub) Hazy, copper colour with a medium-sized beige foamy head. Moderately sweet, minimal toasty malt aroma with a touch of cacao and a good dose of spicy hay-like hops. Light-sweet flavour, slightly toasted malty and subtle fruity taste with a whiff of caramel and cacao; light bodied with a lively, almost fizzy carbonation; moderately dry sweet-bitter finish with a light but present hop character.

(draught at the brewpub) Hazy, orange to amber colour with a medium-sized, slightly off-white foamy head. Discreet aroma: slightly yeasty and moderately sweet grainy malty nose with subtle fruity notes. Sweet flavour; slightly worty and grainy malty taste with light fruity accents; light to medium bodied with a soft carbonation; sweet, malt-accented finish with a whiff of herbal hops. Pleasant to drink but not overly spectacular.

Bottled. An unclear golden beer with an orange head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of oranges. The flavor is slightly acidic malty with notes of fruit - especially oranges and peaches. Not your standard Heller Bock.

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of joergen. Pours a cloudy golden with a tall, lively, white head with good retention. Lightly sour, citrusy nose. Medium body with lightly sweet and flowery notes. Sourish finish. Very atypical for a German - and for a Heller Bock, if that’s really what it is. 290607

Huge, very dense & fine yellowish head; orange beer, very well & densely carbonation. Bit of caramel, caramel malts, generally sweetish. CO² definitely in the nose; fresh greenery aroma. Sweet-sourish beer. Whatever its name, blind I’d guessed some kind of Weizen, if less clovey than usual. Quite citrussy however, fruity-yeasty. Retronasal some vegetable, or fruit prepared as vegetable, like green papaya. Traces of diacetyl? pasta cookingwater. Fizzy, tingling MF, overcarbonated IMO, making it seem lighter than it is. I might rate this very highly on a sunny terrace, a mug of draught in hand. In a severe judging condition, before the computer, it appears thin & timid. Thanks to DerDoppelbock
