Tap at the Hanoi brewpub. Poured a clear reddish mahogany colour with a thin off white head. The aroma is dry roasty malt, toffee, caramel, molasses, sweet sweaty socks. The flavour is moderate sweet with a big toffee caramel malt, boozy liquorice alcohol bitter palate. Medium to full bodied with flat carbonation. Not keen on this at all. Way too alcoholic and far too reminiscent of the dreadful malt liquors we see in night shops throughout South East Asia. Brewed with fish? Maybe that's what I could smell. Buried underground for 10 years no doubt.
