Bottle - Bittersweet chocolate and bourbon barrel. Jet black with a brown head. Big rich chocolate, long syrupy finish. Booze is there but subtle, as are bottle notes. Very nice.

The bottle pours with a deep dark glass staining pour where a swirl puts up a sheet of rich liquid that clings to the glass. A tan head could be teased up with modest agitation. The aroma doesn’t mess around as it pulses with rich chocolate, booze, sweet coconut, smooth bourbon and then some dark roasted malts to big dark roasted coffee notes. The taste is rich and nectar sweet where smooth slick residual sugar intermingle with oily rich dark roasted coffee notes and big velvety chocolate goodness. Wow! It quickly picks up supporting notes of thin slippery sweet smooth bourbon mixed with marshmallow and vanilla. Wow. There aren’t many sippers out there that will entice your senses into a state of speechlessness. Wow!

Bottle pours out with a deep dark-void like body that spins up some staining on the side of the glass and supports a minimal head. The aroma comes across as oily rich dark roasted coffee goodness that has an espresso sense to it and also has thin supporting snippets of chocolate and molasses. The taste is similar with rich oily dark roasted coffee to espresso blending into a pleasing mix of molasses, chocolate and dark roasted malts. This is very nectar like and rich and wonderful where the whole thing just comes alive and begs to be dispatched of in an unhurried fashion. Terrific sipper if there ever was one.

The waxed bottle pours with a thick dark mahogany colored body that manages to stain the glass with a dark curtain of liquid goodness. Above the liquid is a minimal head. The aroma offers up chocolate, sweet coconut, smooth sweet bourbon mixed with a firm coconut vanilla sensation and then some dark roasted to thinly burnt malts. The taste is rich smooth deep goodness that gets quickly to business with vanilla, chocolate, smooth sweetened dark roasted malts and increasing sweet vanilla notes. It picks up additional notes of smooth subtle soft bourbon, more vanilla and coconut to go along with just enough boozy warming to let you know this is sipper of a beer. Wow!

The waxed bottle pours with a thick dark mahogany colored body that supports a tan head. The aroma booms with chocolate, booze, sweet coconut, smooth bourbon that has a candy like quality to it and then some dark roasted to thinly burnt malts. Dig it. The taste is just rich smooth deep goodness, oh my. I get residual sugars, some chocolate, sweetened dark roasted coffee, smooth bourbon and then a soft thin coconut sensation. Wow. It is nectar sweet and rich and ending with a pleasing bourbon and marshmallow to chocolate sensation. Wonderful sipper.

#100 DIPA. Thx! to Kraddel. 650 ml. bottle sampled @ Barely Legal Tasting Room. Hazy golden with some white bubbles for a head. Smells of sweat actually, sweet dough, mellow grass and light bitter grass. Taste of light bitter grass, coupled with sweet dough, touch bitter hay, light fruit, orange, sweet bread. Body is sweet dough and yeast. Nothing wrong here is an an enjoyable DIPA, easy enough to drink but nothing overly impressive which is a bit puzzling seeing Toppling Goliath’s reputation and this being the first beer that I try by them.
